Osteopathy in Three Kings, Auckland

Osteopathy is hands-on care that looks at how your whole body moves, not just where it hurts. We assess posture, joint mobility and muscle function to understand why an issue keeps coming back, then treat the cause alongside the symptom, for pain that's just started and pain you've lived with for years.

What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a hands-on approach to diagnosing, treating and preventing pain and injury. Rather than focusing only on the sore spot, an osteopath looks at how your joints, muscles and connective tissue work together, so treatment addresses what's actually driving the problem, whether that's a stiff joint elsewhere in the chain, a movement pattern from work or sport, or tension that's built up over time.

Osteopathy is a registered allied health profession in New Zealand. Osteopaths are regulated by the Osteopathic Council of New Zealand and require a recognised degree-level qualification to practise. Like physiotherapy and chiropractic care, it sits within mainstream musculoskeletal healthcare, with its own emphasis on hands-on, whole-body assessment.

How does osteopathic treatment work?

Treatment is hands-on and specific to what we find in your assessment, not a fixed routine applied to everyone. Depending on what's going on, that might include soft tissue massage to ease tight or overworked muscles, joint mobilisation to restore movement where things feel stiff, and stretching to lengthen shortened tissue.

Because pain in one area is often linked to how the rest of your body moves, we look beyond just the sore spot: a stiff hip can change how your lower back moves, tight shoulders can contribute to headaches. Treating the wider pattern, not just the symptom, is central to how osteopathy works.

You'll also leave with practical advice: stretches, activity modifications, or simple changes to your daily routine, so progress continues between visits, not just during them.
